A development opportunity for a contractor or software consultant to complete a specified module to integrate into an existing project called Allegiance. The Allegiance software is online and is owned and operated solely by Legion Distribution Services Limited (trading as Legion Express Logistics) and is used to facilitate the delivery and collection services that the company offers.

Legion Express Logistics are a small business operating from a single depot in Nottingham UK. Although they only have seven full time staff at present the company offers both UK and Worldwide delivery and collection services for Parcels, Pallets and Freight. The Allegiance system is used for all delivery and collection services that Legion Express themselves carry out and also integrates with several national and international delivery networks. The software subsequently creates barcoded delivery labels, retrieves tracking information and Proof of Delivery images and presents this information to customers of Legion Express Logistics in a straightforward manner.

Customers are typically small local businesses who appreciate the more personal approach that the company offers without wanting to compromise on service levels and the requirements to provide timely data about their goods that are being moved from A to B. To facilitate this requirement the Allegiance software also has a basic contact management system written in for keeping data about their customer base including contact details for key members of staff, regular collection and delivery addresses, an outline of the customers specific delivery needs and specific delivery rates per customer. Consequently an invoicing module has recently been added that allows for customer invoices to be generated within Allegiance and either viewed online via customer login or emailed out to a specified contact. The delivery cost for individual consignments is also easily accessible to any customer users that have requested access to this functionality, with both invoice and delivery costs access being settable per individual user.

We have existing code written in C#, HTML and Javascript using an MSSQL database. The code also uses API’s to get some services i.e. Google Maps. We are also planning to make use of Geographical Information Systems to enhance the mapping and location services of the existing code. A good understanding of these programming languages and the ability to integrate seamlessly with our existing code base would be required.

There would be an agreed schedule of works drawn up between both parties with monthly targets for release of key stages of the code with payment being dependant on meeting the agreed milestones. Each code release would then be quality tested by our staff to ensure it is fit for purpose and the final payment would be subject to approval of the finalised code by Legion Express. As an escalation process, Legion Express would reserve the right to source an alternative contractor if the monthly targets were not met on more than two occasions. All code would be delivered to and become the property of Legion Distribution Services Limited of Unit H1, Cowlairs, Southglade Business Park, Nottingham, NG5 9RA.

This contract would be awarded based on a combination of the overall price / rate quoted and the track record of the contractor to deliver relevant quality code in a timely manner, which would be judged by reference to any portfolio of previous projects. A detailed specification of the requirements of this module and technical details of the existing codebase is available to interested parties.
